New York comic con special edition

These are from  Saturday June 14th

COMICS & WHY I LOVE THEM !

Being a Collector of comic books for 32 years has been the one constant in my life. comics are my first love. I like the fact that you can take an adventure to any palace or anytime, as soon as you look at the page. In  a Comic book you can explore the depth of the Sea or the Depth of Human emotion, at the same time in word and picture form. There is unlimited potential in the World of  Comics. The places that I could never visit, and only imagine, I have been to in between the pages of comics. From Planet Krypton to Tokyo.
Living in NYC as a Teen was the most fun of all being a comic book fan. The fact that the MARVEL UNIVERSE is centered around New York City,& characters like Spiderman & Daredevil lived with in my neighborhood, made it even more real as a fan. There is even an issue of SPIDERMAN going to a store I used to visit as a child. The I used to love going to the comic book store every Wednesday to get the latest issue. I  still do. One of the greatest times of my life was getting to meet Stan "THE MAN" Lee, even if he did tell me he had no time to talk. He walked away. It was still  thrilling to meet him after 4 years of trying. I have met so many good People who are now close friends , because of my love of Comics.
I learned to be more out going. I even put on a superhero costume during convention season.
Learning how to draw has always been a hobby of mine. Soon I  hope to turn that talent into a Comic Book of My Own. There is a saying, "Never meet your Heroes".Some say it can be a bad thing , but in my case the opposite is true. I have met just about every single one of my favorite Writers,Artist,& Editors over the years .Each one of them has been a pleasure.
The fact that Adults can sit in a room all day , sometimes to their own detriment to create worlds of fantasy for the World to enjoy is amazing . Taking a pen or computer & creating these places from nothing but a blank page. To take lines shapes & text into a " LIVING" believable person to millions of people is the next best thing to godhood. I  love comics on paper or in digital form I hope they stories in comics form live on forever.

My trip to New York Comic Con, The Special Edition

Two weeks ago Special Edition: New York Comic Con, was held at the Jacob K. Javits Center. I try to attend New York Comic Con in October every year. So when I found out about this all Comic Book related event, I knew that this was not to be missed. Having bought my tickets way in advance, I was ready.
Saturday, June 14th at 7:47am I arrived at the Javits Center,Surprisingly Many people had just walked right in the door. The long waiting line was nonexistent. I didn't even see any Cosplayers there, until a little girl dressed as Sailor Mars came in with her dad. Later, 30 or 40 people started gather to into the roped off area. As the line grew, I started to see some of the Artist & Vendors stroll in. I was  happy to see Mike Lilly(Nightwing),with his son & Writer Gail Simone. The line grew to 400, when I started to see more costumes. Some kids in Adventure Time costumes stood next to me.
This year Artist Alley was where most of the action took place. They let us in at 10am. The Race was on. I  had found out that they were selling tickets to NYCC early,Everyone ran down the hall to the showroom floor. I wanted to see all I could to absorb everything .At the bigger NYCC, there is almost no time to take in all there is to see, because of the massive crowed of Convention goers. Just before getting to the entrance they had a D.J. playing. DC COMICS had set up some Batman standies at the entrance door. The first three songs the D.J. played were Superman : The Movie, Followed by The Batman theme, by Danny Elfmann, & the third The Star Wars Theme.
Some people I could see had VIP Tickets to get to the floor early. Walking around were so many little kids This was a very Family friendly Con. There was even a one legged dog.
